How It Works

Cathleen’s Cabin offers stays of between 2 and 7 nights for up to 8 people, all year round. One clean, well-behaved dog can come on holiday too!

All we ask is that you meet the costs of the gas and electricity, currently £10 per day, per group.

The lovely people at Hunter’s Quay have donated special passes for the use of families staying at Cathleen’s Cabin which allows free access to the leisure complex.

Current use of the services from one of Scotland’s Hospices this is all that is required. If you have heard from us from somewhere else we also request a letter explaining why you feel you should be considered for a holiday at Cathleen’s Cabin.

Once your application has been approved and dates confirmed, we will be in touch a few days before you arrive to arrange to meet you when you arrive. We will be meet on site and show you around. We have people that can help you in case of a medical emergency or if you need any other support such as arranging inclusive sports or activities for the children or even just a listening ear. Our aim is to make your break as relaxing and special as possible so please let us know of any needs, requirements or concerns you may have and we will do our best to help.

Cathleen’s Cabin is wheelchair accessible, with no stairs for access to or within the caravan. There is no central island unit within the lounge/kitchen area so wheelchairs can get about easily. There is generous storage for respirators or general medical equipment.

Although the trustees consider every application, we cannot guarantee that everyone who applies can be offered a holiday as priority is always be given to those families who have a child attending one of Scotland’s hospices. Any other applications are decided on need and Cabin availability. A referral does not place an obligation on Cathleen’s Cabin to offer a holiday.
